Yes! It is happening! 20 years more or less to the day since the last time we visited the south and north island of New Zealand, we are going back. March/April 2025 we will spend 5 weeks driving around, revisiting old favourites, and seeing new cool places. Research has started in earnest, if there are any locals who read this, the thing we are struggeling most with, is where to visit a marae, without the crowds of lets say Rotorua. All tips and hints will be appreciated.

I’ve only been to New Zealand once in my life. It was in January/February 2020, the last trip I took before COVID shut down my travel for a while. I thoroughly loved New Zealand. I hope to get back one day. Enjoy it!

We’re actually planning to visit New Zealand too in April for 4-5 weeks! Maybe we’ll see you there! I’ve just started to do some preliminary research and have sketched out a very rough itinerary.

How cool! That would be awesome! Rough estimate now is arrival south Island 9th March, approx 2 weeks there and the on to north island for about 3 weeks there, going home at about easter in mid April. We have some must dos, that we have done before like dolphin swimming in Kaikoura, and lots of new places we want to see👍

I think we’re going to start with the north island and make our way down south. Our estimated arrival is near the beginning of April. This will be our longest trip yet … and with a toddler. What could go wrong?!
