Seville (Sevilla in Spanish) is the capital of the Andalusian region in southern Spain. Known for its vibrant culture, rich history, and stunning architecture, Seville is a must-visit destination for travelers seeking an authentic Spanish experience.

We fell in love with Seville, the whole vibe of the city was very cool. There are of course the hyper touristy area around the cathedral and alcazar but crowds can easily be avoided in such a big city.

Seville has a deep historical legacy dating back to Roman times. Later, under Moorish rule, it became a major cultural and commercial hub. The city flourished during the Spanish Golden Age as the primary port for trade with the Americas.
We stayed slightly north of the city centre at the Hotel America Seville, great location with a parking garage next to it. The walk south through the many pedestrian streets to the cathedral and alcazar was great. We adored all the shops and restaurants.

Like we always do, we get lost on purpose, just walk wherever feels nice and we end up places we might not have seen if we relied on google maps all the time.

Highlights included The Seville Cathedral, the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its bell tower, La Giralda, is a former minaret offering spectacular views of the city.

Alcazar of Seville, This magnificent royal palace, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Game of Thrones location, showcases Mudéjar architecture mixed with later Renaissance influences. It’s still used by the Spanish royal family today.

Metropol Parasol (Las Setas) we stumbled across, not quite sure what we thought about that particular building.

We also need to mention the food! Like in most Spanish cities the food was amazeballs! Awesome tapas everywhere, make sure to always ask for «menu del dia» (menu of the day) and you will get a cheap 2 or 3 course menu that is always tasty and fresh.

Plaza Del Salvador was a highlight with a plethora of restaurants and bars on the square, great for lunch, people and dog watching.

We visited in May and the temperature was just right around 20 celcius, in summer it gets very warm up to a not so comfy 40 degrees celcius.

Seville is a city we would love to visit again, for a weekend of shopping and eating it would be perfect!
